Kamal Ramburuth

Kamal Ramburuth is a nonresident fellow at the Global South Policy Hub. He is a researcher in debt and development finance at the Institute for Economic Justice (IEJ), where he leads the Global Economic Governance Project. He holds a BComm (Hons) in applied development economics from the University of the Witwatersrand. As part of his postgraduate training, Ramburuth studied in Italy and France in a two-year double-degree program in Economic Policies for the Global Transition (EPOG), an Erasmus Mundus joint master’s in economics, graduating with distinction.

As a student, Kamal co-founded the Rethinking Economics for Africa chapter at the University of the Witwatersrand. He has also worked as a consulting researcher at the Southern Centre for Inequality Studies and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
