The Global South Policy Hub creates access points for Global South Policy experts to engage directly with U.S.-based decision-making circles shaping global policy.

We partner with Global South policy experts to build meaningful bridges with Global North decision-makers, informing debates on U.S. foreign policy and the international order. Through this work, we seek to shape systems that advance shared prosperity, security, and justice.

We achieve this through:

The Nonresident Fellowship Program brings senior policy professionals from the Global South into direct engagement with Washington's policy community. It is one of the Hub's primary vehicles for connecting Global South expertise with U.S. and international decision-making, ensuring that policy debates on issues affecting the Global South are informed by practitioners from the region itself, not only by outside analysts.

Fellows contribute publications and participate in virtual and in-person events with U.S. and international policy institutions, engaging on U.S. foreign policy and global governance questions relevant to their countries and regions. The fellowship seeks to connect fellows with U.S. policymakers across the political spectrum, with a particular focus on senior U.S. Congressional staffers from both parties and both chambers. Through this work, fellows aim to shape policy decisions made in Washington and other Global North capitals that affect their communities.

To support this engagement, the Hub provides fellows with regular workshops on the specific skills and knowledge that may help them engage with Global North actors, and on topical policy issues — all designed to also foster South-South collaboration and networking among the fellows themselves.

Meet our fellows

The Congress Connect Fellowship is the Hub's fellowship program for senior U.S. Congressional staffers. This initiative is designed to deepen staffers' understanding of Global South perspectives on U.S. foreign policy and global governance, and to inform U.S. policymakers on practical ways U.S. foreign policy can promote a more equitable world order. By directly engaging with senior scholars from across the Global South, congressional staffers from both parties and chambers gain unique insights into global cooperation, trade and investment, and climate action and security, while exploring new and bold avenues to strengthen equitable bridges between Global South countries and the United States.

• Expand congressional staffers' understanding of perspectives from the Global South on U.S. foreign policy and global governance.
• Deepen their understanding of the priorities of Global South countries for their economic development, climate goals, and security.
• Provide practical insights into how U.S. foreign policy can foster mutually beneficial partnerships with the Global South countries bilaterally and through multilateralism.

• Monthly roundtables that convene three to four senior policy experts from the Global South to engage through direct discussion on selected topics pertaining to U.S. foreign policy, global governance, and multilateralism. These track 1.5 diplomacy-style roundtables are held virtually or in-person, in Washington, D.C.
• A one-week Congressional Delegation to a country in the Global South to engage with policy professionals and political leaders, and visit communities. The trip seeks to provide additional opportunities to staffers to directly engage with policy professionals and political leaders from the Global South, and to see how U.S. foreign policy and international policy impact communities.
• Ad hoc high-level events held in Washington, D.C., that bring together senior Global South government officials, policy experts, and U.S policymakers, among others.
