Putra Adhiguna is a nonresident fellow at the Global South Policy Hub. He is a seasoned energy expert with nearly two decades of experience at the intersection of energy, finance, and policy. He is co-managing director of the Energy Shift Institute, an independent nonprofit think tank he co-founded to advance pragmatic, commercially grounded perspectives on Asia’s green transition.
Before founding the Institute, Putra served as Asia technology research lead at the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis, where he gained a reputation for nuanced, ground-level analysis of the region’s energy landscape. Earlier in his career, he served on the board of a $400 million project within the world’s largest single geothermal development and held senior roles leading teams of over 300 people in Fortune 500 organizations.
His analysis has reached major outlets including The Straits Times, Bloomberg, Associated Press, and China Daily, while also informing decision-makers across corporations, financial institutions, and governments. He has served on the Technology and Innovation Advisory Board of the International Energy Agency (IEA).
