Jason Rosario Braganza

Jason Rosario Braganza is a nonresident fellow at the Global South Policy Hub. He is a Kenyan economist with more than 10 years of experience in international development in Africa. He recently served as executive director at the African Forum and Network on Debt and Development (AFRODAD), where he led advocacy for a common African position on debt, established the U.N. intergovernmental process for a U.N. framework convention on sovereign debt, and founded the only African civil society conference on debt and development. His work focuses on development finance, trade and industrial policy, and poverty and inequality.
Braganza has held multiple roles in civil society, including co-head and program director (tax) at the International Lawyers Project; deputy executive director and head of research at Tax Justice Network Africa; senior analyst at Development Initiatives – Africa Hub; and economist at the Ministry of East African Community in Kenya. He holds a master’s degree in development economics from the University of Sussex in the U.K. and an undergraduate degree in economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
