On Friday, April 17, the Global South Policy Hub will host its second Congress Connect Roundtable Discussion on the topic "Debt, Conditionality, and Sovereignty in the Global Financial System." The discussion will focus on how the IMF, the World Bank, and multilateral lending practices shape debt cycles, sovereignty, and political legitimacy in the Global South. It aims to assess why debt recidivism persists, how conditionality and restructuring processes affect democratic governance and civic space, and what reforms are needed to support long-term stability rather than repeated crises.

This is a private event held under the Chatham House Rule.
